Jason Crook

Director / Lead Coach

Jason grew up playing his Minor lacrosse in Calgary for the Axemen Lacrosse Association, where he grew into a very promising Jr prospect and was subsequently drafted by the Jr B Mountaineers but ultimately went on to have an extremely successful career with the Jr A Mountaineers.

Thanks to his on-floor play as a gifted offensive talent and his off-floor leadership, Jason was drafted 1st overall in 2009 by the Sr B Mounties.

With the Mounties Jason established himself as one of Alberta's premier offensive minds and was named team Captain in 2010. During his tenure he has led the Mounties to two President's Cup appearances while being instrumental in rebuilding the clubs historic culture in record breaking time.

Coaching has always been something that seemed like a natural fit for Jason thanks to his deep knowledge of the game and his natural ability to teach and get the most out of players.

Jason was a critical driving force in building the Calgary Jr B Shamrocks into a national powerhouse, winning the Founders Cup National Championship in 2019 as the clubs co-head coach and team architect.

Jason's involvement in coaching includes an unofficial mentorship role for the existing coaching staff of the the Jr B Shamrocks, where he is also the clubs GM and President.

Jason has served as the Offensive Coordinator of the NLL U17 Jr Roughnecks since the program’s inception in 2017, and will step aside from that role to take over coaching duties with the Bantam Roughnecks moving forward.

Jason also functions as one of the lead instructors of the Mounties Jr Prep Camp and the Mounties Dev Camp.

John Kilbride

Co-founder / program director / Lead Coach

Beginning playing at the age of 4 and coaching at the age 16, John has played and coached at almost every level of lacrosse since. His current coaching activities include participation with the Sr B Mounties, U17 Jr Roughnecks, RMLL Super Coaches Clinic, CDLA Coaches Mentorship Program, Mounties Academy Lacrosse, as well as numerous other coach and player clinics.

John's JrA career included 3 All-Star Team appearances and a Team MVP Award in 1991 when he also served as Team Captain.

Following his JrA career, John was drafted 2nd overall in the WLA draft by the Vancouver Burrards. John went on to play Sr A for a number of years before returning to school at the University of Calgary. John then returned to Sr A with the New Westminster Salmonbellies in 2000, and subsequently went on to play in the NLL for the Calgary Roughnecks where he would score the franchises first ever goal while also setting the single game point record of 11 (4G, 7A) in the process, a record that has since been shattered by NLL legends.

John is very active in the Alberta lacrosse community and has been inducted into the Axemen Lacrosse Hall of Fame and has been awarded the Alberta Lacrosse Association's (ALA) highest honor, the James McFall Award along the way.

John's sister, Leslie Churchill, was also a recipient of the James McFall Award in 2007 - the only brother-sister tandem to ever receive this honour.

Leslie Churchill

Game-Day & Volunteer Manager

Leslie is another one of those volunteers who has worked for years behind the scenes assisting the team in any way required, but in 2022 her role with the team was formalized into one of the most challenging positions of all, Game-Day Manager.

As Game-Day Manager, Leslie is responsible for recruiting volunteers to assist with the assortment of jobs that must be filled in order for a game to happen such as shot-clock, scoresheet, and scoreclock personnel, plus all the jobs that help make the game-day experience better for everyone such as music coordinator and gate volunteers.

Leslie works closely with Erin Kilbride, our Food & Apparel Manager, to make sure the Mounties run smoothly.

Erin Kilbride

Food & Apparel Manager

Erin joined the Mounties Lacrosse Club in an official capacity in 2022, but as the wife of head coach John Kilbride, she has always been working in the background to support the team in whatever capacity was required.

As food manager, Erin is responsible for providing game-day meals to the players and volunteers, which pretty much makes her the most important person in the organization! In addition, Erin runs and manages all things apparel, including sourcing vendors, products, and sorting out delivery.

Erin is also intricately involved with coordinating team-building events, organizing game-day gates volunteers, and assisting Leslie Churchill, our Game-Day Manager, with anything she requires.

DJ Giacobbo

Defensive Coordinator

Coach DJ started his major lacrosse career playing in Edmonton for the Jr A Eclipse where he established himself as both a fierce defender with an unsatiable competitive spirit that was balanced with great athletic and technical abilities as well as leadership skills.

His talents in Jr caught the eye of all the right NCAA Division 1 scouts which ultimately landed him at Canisius College where once again his leadership skills stood out and he was named a Captain between 2012 - 2014.

Once again DJ's outstanding abilities caught the eye of all the right people, including NLL scouts where he was drafted by the Colorado Mammoth in 2014 in the 5th round back in a time when the NLL barely new were Alberta was, and by the Edmonton Sr B Outlaws that same year. DJ played 2 years with the Outlaws before moving down south to Calgary where he landed on the Mounties in 2018.

During DJ's 4 years with the Mounties he once again proved himself to be a heart-and-soul type of leader who brought a teammate-first approach both on and off the floor. This is the same approach that coach DJ likes to bring to a team, combined with that great technical and emotional lacrosse IQ required to win!
